Tottenham and Liverpool have reportedly made it clear to Schalke 04 that they are interested in securing the services of the American forward Matthew Hoppe.
The 20-year-old has caught the eye in an otherwise disappointing season for German giants, who are on the verge of being relegated from the Germany top-tier.
Hoppe made his breakthrough in November and has gone on to found back of the net five times in 15 German top-flight outings, three of those strikes coming against Hoffenheim.
Schalke will not stand in the USA international’s way if a bid is made this summer and, according to Transfermarkt, the Merseyside Reds and Spurs will both test the Royal Blues’ resolve.
It is believed that an offer of £9m will be enough to prise Hoppe, who has also been rumoured with Manchester United and Man City, away from Schalke.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have been linked with a possible move for Serie A giants Inter Milan playmaker Nicolo Barella, however, the Italians seem unlikely to sell despite their current financial perils.
The 23-year-old midfielder is locked to the Serie A giants until the summer of 2024. He is highly thought of both at club level and with the national team where he has played 18-games.
However, Calciomercato claim that the Premier League giants are keeping tabs on his situation at Inter Milan.
