Liverpool have allegedly identified Porto attacker Luis Diaz as their number one target for the upcoming January transfer market.
The Reds are said to be in the market for reinforcements in the final third of the pitch to help deal with the losses of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to the Africa Cup of Nations.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have been tracking the Colombian for a number of months, and Portuguese publication Correio da Manha claims that the side could make their move when the market reopens next month.
The Anfield side are also understood to be keeping a close eye on Lille striker Jonathan David, who would likely be a cheaper option than Luis.
However, the report states that Diaz is Liverpool’s top target if they are to strengthen their squad in January, although the German coach has already suggested that he won’t use the January window to bring in long-term replacements for Mane or Salah.
The South American has scored 13 goals in 22 outings for Porto across all competitions this term, while the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United have also been touted with an interest in his signature.
The 24-year-old star faced Liverpool twice in the UEFA Champions League this season, although the wide man failed to find the back of the net in either of those matches.
