Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to secure services of Sevilla defender Diego Carlos this January transfer window.
Having left Nantes for the La Liga outfit earlier in the summer, Carlos has established himself as a vital part at the club, making 18 starts in Spanish top-tier.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Man City had identified the South American as a future signing at some point in 2020.
However, according to El Desmarque, the Merseyside Reds are ready to make their move for the 26-year-old defender, who is believed to have a £65m release clause in his current deal at Sevilla.
The report claimed that Jurgen Klopp is prepared to meet that figure at the midway point of the season as he bids to bring in a new face for the middle of his defensive end.
Carlos’s arrival would potentially allow for Croatian centre-back Dejan Lovren to take on a fresh challenge elsewhere.
Meanwhile, Manchester United and Liverpool are both interested in securing the services of Maxi Gomez, according to Calciomercato reports.
The 23-year-old has impressed for Valencia this campaign, founding back of the net 5 times in 14 games.
Maxi Gomez made the move to the Liga side from Spanish outfits Celta Vigo in the summer, having been loosely rumoured with a switch to Liverpool.
The Merseyside Reds are still keeping an eye on him, but, according to these latest reports.
Both Man Utd and Liverpool are interested, although 23-year-old forward has €140 million release clause in his current deal and it could be an issue for them.
