Liverpool are keen on signing Real Madrid star Federico Valverde, according to a recent report from El Nacional.
The Uruguayan midfielder has attained ‘untouchable’ status at the Bernabeu, with chairman Florentino Perez a big fan of the player’s talents.
In spite of his standing within the team, the South American youngster’s playing time has taken some hit this term.
The 23-year-old has had to deal with fitness woes this term, while the signing of rising star Eduardo Camavinga also hampered Federico’s involvement, with him having to share minutes with the French ace when Toni Kroos was out with an injury.
The player has featured in 12 matches across all competitions in the 2021/22 term, contributing with a solitary assist.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are now claimed to be interested in bringing in Valverde. The Reds’ head coach is a huge admirer of the former Penarol star’s talents and sees him as a perfect addition to the squad.
He signed a new contract with Los Blancos earlier this year, extending his Real Madrid contract until the summer of 2027.
The agreement also has a €1 billion exit clause, which means the English outfit would have to shell out a massive sum to sign the Uruguayan international.
