Liverpool’s summer transfer market saw them linked with multiple high-class midfielders around Europe.
The departure of Georginio Wijnaldum on a free transfer to the Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain led to unavoidable rumours of who could replace the Netherlands international.
In the end, manager Jurgen Klopp opted not to sign a new player in the middle of the pitch, with centre-half Ibrahima Konate the only senior team addition.
One player who was linked with a transfer to Anfield during the summer was Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans.
The Foxes player, who bagged the winning goal versus Chelsea in last term’s FA Cup final, was rumoured to be a Reds target in the summer.
Youri remained at the King Power Stadium outfit and Brendan Rodgers’ side are thought to be interested in handing the 24-year-old a new deal.
However, fresh reports in 90min state that Tielemans has snubbed the latest contract proposal from the club, further fuelling rumours that he could quit the Foxes in the near future.
The Belgium international’s existing contract expires in June 2023, so it’s naturally no surprise that they will want one of their key players to be tied down to a longer contract.
