According to the Daily Star, Liverpool have made contact with Real Madrid regarding the availability of Marco Asensio.
The 21-year-old Spaniard is considered as one of the brightest prospects in the world football despite being used sparingly by Zinedine Zidane last season.
Two Real Madrid stars, Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez are widely expected to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. And, if the duo depart, Marco Asensio is likely to find himself getting more game time.
But according to Spanish publication Diario Gol, Arsenal and Liverpool are sniffing around. It is believed Serie A heavyweights Juventus are also potential suitors.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal have already splashed the cash – and smashed their respective transfer records – this summer.
The Merseyside giants have coughed up around £39m to sign Mohamed Salah from AS Roma.
Meanwhile Arsenal spent £52m in midweek to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon. Liverpool could have the upper hand in any battle for Asensio, though.
