Liverpool have opened talks to sign 15-goals midfield prodigy

According to the latest transfer news, Liverpool have opened talks with Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon over a potential transfer move for Gelson Martins in the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old Gelson Martins has managed to score 15 goals in 96 appearances for Sporting since breaking into the first-team back in 2015 but the versatile winger is being linked with a Premier League move ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The recent reports from Liverpool Echo claim that the Reds have made an approach to Sporting as they explore other options after a move for AS Roma explosive winger Mohamed Salah hit a snag over the last few days.

It is believed that Roma are demanding a massive transfer fee for the ex-Chelsea star which appears to have scared off the Merseyside giants.

Sporting Lisbon, meanwhile, are understood to value Gelson Martins at around £50mi so a deal for the Portugal international will not come cheap for Liverpool this summer.

The same reports claim that Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United have also expressed an interest in the highly-rated youngster ahead of the summer transfer window.
