Liverpool in danger to miss out signing of world-cup winning defender

Calciomercato claims Benjamin Pavard that has been on the radars of some of the biggest clubs in Europe amid Liverpool’s interest for the services of the France international.

Napoli have entered the race for the World Cup winner with Bayern Munich and Tottenham also interested.

The 22-year-old was one of the standout players for Stuttgart last season and backed it up with his displays in the World Cup.

Benjamin Pavard can play as a right-back or a central defender and would be a great addition to the Reds.

The report adds that the defender has a release clause of €35 million, which is peanuts compared to some of the transfer fees being splashed out.

The Reds have a quality central defender in Virgil van Dijk, and Joe Gomez is doing a great job besides him.

The Frenchman could provide cover to both the players but his versatility in playing as a right-back would give added competition to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Jurgen Klopp knows the German top tier well and could use some of his links to get the low-down on the Stuttgart ace.

The Bundesliga outfit is struggling in 16th place with Pavard having started all 13 league matches for them this season.
