Barcelona have opened contract talks with Flamengo over a potential move to sign reported Liverpool transfer target Lucas Paqueta.

The 21-year-old midfielder is apparently on the Reds radar and with the move for France international attacker Nabil Fekir seemingly dead in the water, Paqueta is apparently one of the men on the Reds shortlist of attacking players to target for the next season.

However, if the Reds are to sign Brazilian it looks like they’ll have to fend off interest from Barcelona, who have entered talks with Flamengo.

According to a report from Spanish media outlet Sport, the Catalan giants, Barcelona are now the favourites to sign the Brazilian sensaiton.

The release clause in Brazilian sensational deal is believed to be around £40.5m and it appears that Spanish giants are willing to spend that amount to take the youngster at Nou Camp for the next season.

Whether the Merseyside Reds make a serious move for Paqueta stays to be seen, however, if they do, they’ll need to beat the Catalan club to his signature.
