Liverpool in the battle to sign 19-year-old German forward

Liverpool, Bayern and Barcelona have all been linked with the RB Salzburg centre-forward Karim Adeyemi, who has started the campaign in blistering goalscoring form. Germany international proved his UCL credentials with a starring role in their first group match with Sevilla.

Adeyemi won a hat-trick of penalties with the Spaniards and, despite missing the first, proved he could be the real deal in Europe’s biggest tournament. The German manager made just one summer signing in the previous window, and there are concerns about his side’s options going forward.

Karim has started the campaign in prolific form in the Austrian league, scoring six times in the club’s first six league matches. The 19-year-old striker’s form has led to links with some of Europe’s top teams, including Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern.

Both Sadio Mane and Mo Salah will miss a portion of this campaign when they represent their countries in the African Cup of Nations in winter. That could leave Liverpool struggling for bodies in attacking areas, and the German centre-forward is a name that has been touted to come in and make an instant impact.

The German tactician has already hinted that there could be activity in the winter window and that they will need to find a solution to the duo’s absence. Barcelona have held a longstanding interest in the striker and tried to add him two years ago.
