Liverpool joined the race for 21-year-old Inter Milan centre-back

Liverpool are reportedly ready to battle Barcelona for the the services of Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni during this summer’s transfer window.

The 21-year-old has been a vital player for Inter during the 2020-21 season, playing 32 games in all competitions, including 24 in the Italian top-tier.

Bastoni’s future at San Siro has recently been called into question, though, with Barca believed to be keen to bring him to Camp Nou ahead of next campaign.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Merseyside Reds have also identified the Italy international as a potential transfer target, with the Reds prepared to pay in the region of £43m for his signature.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have struggled with injuries in the middle of their backline throughout the current cmpaign, with Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip all currently on the sidelines.

Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak both arrived at Anfield during the winter transfer window, however, the former is only on loan with the English champions from Schalke 04.

Meanwhile, Long-linked with an exit from the Ligue 1 side Marseille, Boubacar Kamara, against many odds, remains in France for the time being.

Settled and happy with Les Olympiens, the centre-back turned defensive midfielder is widely expected to depart at some point in his professional career, and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could be his next destination.

That is what Italian outlet Calciomercato write in a very short article on its website, stating the Reds have ‘cast their eyes’ on the 21-year-old talented player, who is now a key member of what will soon be Jorge Sampaoli’s roster.
