Liverpool could be in line to secure the services of their summer target Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz in a swap deal involving their out-of-favor midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Luiz was a name on Jurgen Klopp’s shopping list before the Merseyside Reds head coach added Arthur Melo from Serie A giants, Juventus on deadline day in a loan transfer with an option to make the move permanent.
Villa head-coach Steven Gerrard had been reluctant to part ways with the Brazil international midfielder, Luiz who has grown into an influential player for the playmakers and has been rumoured with a move to some of the biggest teams across England.
According to a report from The Daily Express, it is reported that the Merseyside Reds interest in moving in for Luiz could be given a boost with the Reds’ forgotten man Oxlade-Chamberlain set for a switch in the opposite side.
Gerrard’s Aston Villa have struggled to impress early on in the English top-tier this season with just one win in their first six appearances leaving them hovering above the relegation zone which could prompt a rethink of their transfer plans to come this winter.
