Liverpool planning €125m move for German in-demand midfielder

Latest big-name to be linked with a move to Liverpool has been Bayer Leverkusen’s star Kai Havertz.

Last week, the Express claimed that the Merseyside Reds have already held talks with German playmaker Kai Havertz and his agent’ last month, and now, Mundo Deportivo are claiming that the Reds leapt to the head of the queue over a potential summer move.

Javier Afaro writes that the Reds interest is ‘strong’ and that our offer is ‘very serious,’ potentially reaching €125m.

German international playmaker is a an ideal player, however, the Merseyside Reds have just secured the services of Takumi Minamino, another versatile midfielder who does his best stuff in central offensive areas, just like the 20-year-old German.

If Adam Lallana leaves there may be room in the team for another playmaker, however, the Reds not sure he will shell out such a sum on a player, however talented, who’ll at first be probably in the rotation.

After all, how can Liverpool head-coach Jurgen Klopp possibly consider one of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson or Gini Wijnaldum dropping from his starting XI.

In fairness, Wijnaldum and Henders are approaching their 30s, and James Milner is well into his – so at some point – Reds need another midfielder for the rebuild.

Whether Kai Havertz is that player, at such a high price, remains to be seen.
