Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu is of the view that Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum is not someone in the style of a Barcelona player.

Having entered the final year of his deal with Liverpool, Wijnaldum has been linked with a move to Blaugrana, with Ronald Koeman keen to have his compatriot at his disposal.

Koeman has asked Barcelona to land Wijnaldum, but no progress has yet been made on taking the Netherlands international to the Camp Nou.

As Wijnaldum continues to be linked with La Liga giants, ex-Blaugrana man Romeu has revealed his view that the Reds star does not suit the Catalan heavyweights’ style of play.

“For me, Wijnaldum does not have a Barcelona style“, he told Catalan radio network RAC1.

In spite of suggestions of a departure in the current transfer market, Georginio started in Liverpool’s 4-3 win over Leeds United last weekend.

It has been stated that the former Newcastle United ace held positive talks with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp upon returning from international duty and could still sign a fresh contract with the Premier League champions.

Elsewhere, Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has confirmed the club’s interest in Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster.

“We have made enquiries about a few strikers and most on loan. Rhian is one we have talked about and spoken to Liverpool about,” said the manager, as quoted by Yorkshire Live.

It is claimed as many as seven PL club have made enquiries about his availability this transfer window, which has given Liverpool a dilemma All Rights Reserved 2019
