Premier League leaders Liverpool are plotting a £20 million offer for United States international Weston McKennie.
The Reds are yet to make any signings during the January transfer window, but Jurgen Klopp has revealed the club will consider moves if the right opportunity comes.
USA star Weston McKennie broke into Schalke’s first-team last season and has since emerged as a key player for the Bundesliga side.
The Sun says Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of the midfielder, who can also play in defence, and has received promising reports from the Reds’ network of scouts.
It is understood Liverpool are lining up a £20 million bid for Weston McKennie and are interested in bringing the 20-year-old to Merseyside either this month or in the summer.
Steven McKennie, who has made seven appearances for the USA, is predominately a midfielder but can also play in defence.
The versatility he has may be an attractive proposal to Jurgen Klopp, who has been without the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez in recent weeks.
Liverpool lost their first Premier League game of the season at the start of the month, succumbing to a 2-1 loss to rivals Manchester City at Etihad Stadium.
