Liverpool are allegedly looking to trigger the buy-out clause required to snare Barcelona wonderkid Gavi.

The 17-year-old sensation is hot property due to his rapid rise to prominence for both club and country over the last one year.

Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp is likely to enter the transfer window to freshen up the Anfield ranks in the immediate future and could look to the midfielder in order to do so, that is according to a report from Spanish outlet ElNacional.

The report says that Liverpool are one of multiple clubs ‘willing to pay’ the €50 million (£42 million) in order to snap up the four-cap Spain international.

Spending the mooted £42 million exit clause on the highly-regarded player would be an outstanding piece of business.

Capable of playing in a variety of roles and with superb technical ability, it is clear to see why Jurgen would be desperate to bring him to Merseyside.

With the Catalan side reportedly looking to tie down their prized asset to an extended deal, the Premier League heavyweights should be wasting no time in testing these waters.

So far this term Gavi has netted once and provided three assists in 23 appearances in all competitions.
