The Merseyside giants are targeting Udinese midfielder, Rodrigo De Paul, as a possible replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, according to reports in Italy. The Netherlands international is yet to sign a new deal with the PL champions and could leave Liverpool at the end of the campaign if he fails to reach a new agreement.

Reds are lining up replacements for Gini, who has established himself as a crucial part of Jurgen Klopp’s midfield. Argentina international is on the Reds radar with the German manager a huge admirer of the playmaker. However, Udinese are demanding at least a €40m fee for Rodrigo.

‘De Paul is a talented player and a point of reference for our team,’ Udinese’s vice-president Stefano Campoccia said earlier this month. ‘He is a jewel and the jewels cost. The proposals did not meet our requests, for less than €40m he does not move.’

Leeds United have also been linked with a move for Rodrigo, while reports in Italy this month have claimed that Inter are willing to offer a €25m fee for the playmaker.

Reds, meanwhile, are keeping tabs on Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma as another possible replacement for Gini Wijnaldum. Mali international has impressed at the heart of Brighton’s midfield and has also attracted interest from the Gunners.

Liverpool have the chance to catch up with league leaders Red Devils this weekend and put an end to their three-game winless run. A victory at Liverpool would put them level on points with Man UNited, and Mane is looking forward to facing the Norwegian manager’s in-form side.
