Deal On: Barcelona offered three-year contract to Liverpool key man

Spanish giants Barcelona have reportedly offered Liverpool playmaker Georginio Wijnaldum a three-year deal to join the club this summer.

The Dutch international will see his current contract with the Merseyside Reds ends at the end of this 2020/21 season and he has been strongly linked with a switch to the Catalan club.

Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona are willing to offer the 30-year-old a salary worth around £8m per campaign over a three-year period.

Wijnaldum is keen to seek a fresh challenge and would be interested in working under compatriot Ronald Koeman as well as to play in Spain.

Serie A giants Inter Milan have also expressed an interest in the  30-year-old midifelder, however it is believed that Barcelona is Wijnaldum’s first choice if he is to leave Liverpool this summer.

Wijnaldum, who has won the Premier League and Champions League with the Merseyside Reds, has made 40 games in all competitions so far this season, founding back of the net three times.

Meanwhile, Chelsea and Liverpool could reportedly rival Arsenal for the services of Real Madrid attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard when the transfer window will be re-opened in the summer.

The Norway international midfielder has impressed for the Gunners since joining the club on loan in January, founding back of the net twice in 12 games for Mikel Arteta’s side in all competitions.

Liverpool favorites to sign 29-year-old Serie A defender valued at £51m

Liverpool reportedly remain at the front of the queue for Serie A giants, Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

On Monday, it was reported that the Merseyside Reds were the frountrunners to secure a summer deal for RB Leipzig’s centre-back Ibrahima Konate.

Should a £33m deal for the France U-21s international go through, Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to consider any more additions in that area.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Merseyside Reds retain an interest in securing the services of Koulibaly at a reduced asking price of between £42m and £51m.

While there have been times when the Senegal international has been valued at double that fee, Serie A giants are seemingly willing to cash in on the 29-year-old.

Much could depend on whether Jurgen Klopp’s side push through a permanent contraction for loanee Ozan Kabak, who can be signed for £18m from Schalke 04 later in 2021.

Meanwhile, Leicester City are reportedly preparing to battle Liverpool and Arsenal for the services of Brighton & Hove Albion playmaker  Yves Bissouma this summer.

The 24-year-old midfielder has been a vital player for the Seagulls during the 2020-21 season, managing to found back of the net two times in 30 games, and both Premier League giants were linked with him in January.

Brighton are believed to lose the 24-year-old playmaker this summer even if they manage to remain in the English top-tier, and according to The Mirror, the Foxes are also in the mix for his services.

French defender reacts to Liverpool transfer rumours

RB Leipzig centre-back Ibrahima Konate has claimed that he is not concerned about recent rumours over a proposed transfer to Liverpool.

German outfits have already seen Bayern Munich trigger Dayot Upamecano’s release clause, and the Merseyside Reds have now reportedly agreed to fork out the £34m needed to prise French defender away from Julian Nagelsmann’s side in the summer.

However, the 6ft 4in defender – currently on international duty with the France U-21 side – has affirmed that he is only worried about his endeavours on the move rather than off it.

Speaking to L’Equipe, Konate said: “I woke up, I saw my phone ringing all over the place. I just wanted to tell them, ‘Hey, I played yesterday, I’m tired, leave me alone’.

“Frankly, I don’t even watch this. We can’t focus on that, there are the Euros and then my return to the club. You have to focus on that and not on the external things.”

The 21-year-old has played the full 90 minutes as France U-21s overcame Russia Under-21s 2-0 in the European Championships on Sunday, however, he has only played nine Bundesliga games during an injury-hit season.

Liverpool also tried to sign Dayot Upamecano, however, he has ended up signing for Bayern Munich.
