Liverpool refusing to pay 30-goal forward’s £50m release clause
Liverpool have reportedly ended their interest in Timo Werner after refusing to pay the German forward’s release clause, according to the reports.
The RB Leipzig striker has been persistently rumoured with a move to the Merseyside Reds, for some time, however, the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic has led to doubts over the feasibility of big-money switch during the upcoming transfer window.
Werner – who has managed to score 24 goals and provide seven assists in the Bundesliga this season – is out of contract with RB Leipzig in 2023 and possesses a release clause of £50m.
However, with the Merseyside Reds reportedly set to suffer a loss of over £100m due to the coronavirus pandemic, The Mirror reports that Liverpool have ended their pursuit of German international forward for the time being.
The report claims that while the Premier League giants are still huge fan of the striker, they do not value him above £30m considering the current situation in football.
Barcelona and Inter Milan, who have also been interested in securing the services of Timo Werner, are also believed to be against paying his full £50m release clause – which would supposedly be reduced to £35m next year.
Liverpool joined the race to sign £44.8m-rated Ligue 1 midfielder
Liverpool are reportedly interested in making a summer move for Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar.
The 21-year-old midfield maestro has been in stunning form for his French team during the 2019-20 season, founding back of the net nine times and providing seven assists in 37 games in all competitions.
The Frenchman has a deal at Groupama Stadium until June 2023, however, Les Gones are allegedly bracing themselves for offers for their star player.
Premier League giants Manchester City are believed to be interested in securing the services of Aouar during the upcoming summer transfer window, however, according to Corriere dello Sport, the Merseyside Reds are also firmly in the race.
The report suggests that the France Under-21 international, who has also been rumoured with a switch to Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, is believed to be valued by his Ligue 1 team in the region of €50m (£44.8m).
The Merseyside Reds, meanwhile, have reportedly ended their interest in securing the services of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner due to his £50m release clause.
German forward is expected to be free to depart from the Red Bull Arena for £35m next year following his contract.
Liverpool joined the race to sign €60,000 a-week PSG star
Premier Leauge giants Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to secure services of Paris Saint-Germain full-back Thomas Meunier.
The 28-year-old’s current deal with the French champions is due to end in June, and it is believed that he will be departing from Thomas Tuchel’s side for free in the summer.
Chelsea and Man Utd have both been credited with an interest in the Belgium international defender, who has played 27 games for PSG during the 2019-20 season.
However, according to Le 10 Sport, the Merseyside Reds are now in the hunt for the 28-year-old defender.
The report suggests that the Merseyside Reds view Belgian defender, who has been capped on 40 times at the international level, as the ideal player to increase competition for Trent Alexander-Arnold in the right-back position.
Meunier has won three Ligue 1 titles during his time at the Parc des Princes and still has been one of the best defenders in the French top-tier meaning that the Merseyside Reds would be happy to increase their depth by luring him at Anfield.
Paris Saint-Germain another full-back Larwin Kurzawa has been also rumoured with a departure from the Parc de Princess with Arsenal and Man Utd are keen on to secure his services.
