Liverpool in danger to miss out signing of Ligue 1 in-demand midfielder

Manchester United are reportedly frountrunners to secure services of Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.

The 21-year-old has been rumoured with a move away from his French team over the last 12 months, with the Red Devils, AC Milan and Liverpool all believed to be interested in his services.

Soumare has been a vital player for Lille for the last two seasons, this term he has played 21 games for French outfits, however, the rumours surrounding his future continues to gather pace.

According to Italian journalist Vito Angele, the Red Devils are leading the race to secure the services of the Frenchman, potentially at the end of the current campaign.

“He is an important player but I don’t think he will be coming to Serie A,” Angele told The Italian Football Podcast.

“Man Utd are working on him and they are the favourites to sign him right now. Lille are also asking a high price for him which is too much for Milan.”

Soumare’s existing contract at Stade Pierre-Mauroy is set to expire in June 2022 and French outfits are believed to value their star player at €32m.

Liverpool make contact with Tottenham centre-back valued at £54m

Liverpool have allegedly made contract with the agents of Tottenham Hotspur’s centre-back Davinson Sanchez in order to lure him at Anfield.

The Premier League defending champions have lost both Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk for the rest of the season, meaning that a new defender is expected to arrive at Anfield as soon as transfer window will be re-opened in January.

A recent report suggested that the Merseyside Reds had identified RB Leipzig’s centre-back Dayot Upamecano as their leading transfer target, however, the likes of Man Utd and Manchester City are also said to be in the hunt for the Frenchman.

According to reports in Spain, the Mersyeside Reds are also keen on Colombian centre-back and have already made contact with the Colombia international to register their interest.

The 24-year-old has played 126 games for Jose Mourinho’s side since arriving from Dutch giants, Ajax back in 2017, however, has largely struggled to hold down a starting role on a consistent basis.

The South American, who has a deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until June 2024, has not even made the squad for his team’s last three Premier League games.

Jose Mourinho’s side are believed to value the defender in the region of €60m (£54m).

Liverpool joined the race for 6 ft 2 French defender

Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on any developments regarding the future of Strasbourg highly-rated defender Mohamed Simakan.

Despite having to deal with long-term injuries to Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk, the Merseyside Reds head-coach, Jurgen Klopp has dropped a hint that he will opt against adding a new defender to his team in January.

However, according to Telefoot, the Merseyside Reds are contemplating whether to make a bid for in-demand starlet Simakan.

The 20-year-old has already established himself as a vital player at Strasbourg, making a total of 18 starts in the French top-tier during the current season.

Chelsea have been rumoured with a future approach for the talented defender, while RB Leipzig and Serie A giants AC Milan are believed to be showing the strongest interest.

Simakan has two-and-a-half years left on his Strasbourg deal and it is believed that French club value him at £18m.

Chelsea see Simakan  as a perfect replacement for Fikayo Tomori who has been rumoured with a departure from Stamford Bridge in the current transfer window, while Liverpool wants to solve their defensive issues in order to retain their chances of defending the Premier League trophy.
