Liverpool are in talks to secure services Ajax forward Antony ahead of Man United, according to reports in Brazil.
Erik ten Hag has urged the Red Devils hierarchy to make a move for the South American midfielder this summer, however, so far the club have been unable to reach an agreement with Dutch giants.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have already secured the services of Darwin Nunez in a £85m deal from Portuguese giants, Benfica this summer, however, are still looking to strengthen following the exit of Sadio Mane, who moved to German giants, Bayern Munich.
It’s believed that Ajax are asking a £69 million fee for Antony off the back of his stunning form under Ten Hag over the last two campaigns and the Red Devils are unwilling to meet the Dutch club’s valuation.
According to Yahoo Esportes, the Merseyside Reds have held talks with both Ajax and Antony’s agent over a potential contract this summer.
The report suggests that Jurgen Klopp’s side’s interest is ‘strong’ and a bid of £59m could be enough to reach an agreement with Dutch giants.
Earlier this month, the Red Devils branded reports that they submitted a £51m offer for Brazilian forward as ‘nonsense’.
It’s believed that the winger is keen on being reunited with Ten Hag at Old Trafford, however, Ajax have the upper hand as they have already sold Sebastien Haller to Borussia Dortmund and Ryan Gravenberch to Bayern Munich, which has put them in a strong financial position.
