Liverpool are reportedly set to include their first-team star Dejan Lovren in a bid for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Merseyside Reds continue to be heavily linked with the Senegal international centre-back, with a recent report suggesting that the Reds want him to partner with Virgil van Dijk at the heart of their defence next campaign in order to increase their chances and defend the title.
The Citizens are also believed to be in the running for the ex-Metz youngster, who is believed to be valued in the region of £90m by the Serie A giants.
According to Tuttosport, though, the PL champions believe that they can lower Napoli’s price tag for the 29-year-old defender by including Lovren as a makeweight.
The Croatia international has only played 10 Premier League games for Jurgen Klopp’s teams this campaign and will see his current deal at Anfield end next summer.
Croatian centre-back has featured once for the Merseyside Reds since their return to the English top-tier action earlier this month, playing as a substitute in their goalless draw with Everton on June 21.
Another Liverpool defender Joel Matip who has been ruled out for the rest of the season is likely to depart from Anfield ahead of the next campaign.
