German international Timo Werner has been strongly linked with a summer move to Anfield for recent months – and there appears to be another twist.
Recently the newspaper The Athletic reported that Chelsea are now looking at other targets and Liverpool are now the frontrunners to get the deal done.
And this will reportedly have an impact on the career of talented forward Rhian Brewster, should the move for Timo Werner has been finalised.
Football Insider claims that the on-loan Swansea City forward will be loaned out again next campaign if German centre-forwards rocks up at Anfield before 2020/21 rolls around.
The move which looked almost certain before the coronavirus pandemic is now reportedly on the ropes, with the Merseyside Reds now unlikely to make an approach German forward.
ESPN report that it’s unlikely any team will be agreeing transfers in these uncertain times.
German international forward has an affordable release clause. However, it needs to be activated at some point in this month – and April is looking like to be without football due to COVID-19.
This means it’s likely Brewster will stay at Anfield and won’t be sent on loan, and may enjoy an advanced role in the Jurgen Klopp’s first-team as Xherdan Shaqiri and Adam Lallana have both rumoured with an exit from the club.
