Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly still keeping tabs on the 24-year-old midfielder, Matheus Nunes despite his club-record move to Wolves this summer.

The Portuguese playmaker completed his big-money move to Molineux from Sporting Lisbon earlier last month for a fee believed to be around £38m (€45m) plus £4.2m (€5m) in add-ons.

Wolves managed to fight off competition from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool to secure the services of the midfielder on a five-year deal, and he has since started in each of their last four Premier League matches.

Despite his move to Wolves, Portuguese news outlet UOL reports that Liverpool and Chelsea still hold an interest in the eight-cap Portugal international.

The report claims that the midfielder’s agent Jorge Mendes has an “increasingly close and trusting relationship” with the Merseyside Reds new sporting director Julian Ward, which could favour both parties if they decide to enter talks over 24-year-old midfielder’s future.

Jurgen Klopp’s side initially put plans to recruit a new midfielder on hold earlier this summer, however, the club eventually decided to enter the market late in the window following to their increasing list of injuries in the midfield area.

Instead of splashing the cash on top targets such as Nunes, the ended up by signing Arthur Melo on a season long-loan.

Meanwhile, Chelsea new boss Graham Potter keen on to strengthen his midfield area and alongside with Nunes, Brighton’s midfielder Caicedo has been on his radar for the winter transfer window.
