Former Liverpool forward John Aldridge has tipped the team to make “two big-name signings” this summer and believes that one of them must be RB Leipzig centre-forward, Timo Werner.
German international forward has been repeatedly rumoured with a switch to Anfield following another prolific season which has seen him to found back of the net 27 times and provided 12 assists in 36 games across in all competitions.
The Merseyside Reds have reportedly put their transfer plans on hold following the coronavirus pandemic, however, Aldridge believes that the Merseyside Reds supporters can expect some high-profile arrivals at Anfield in the summer.
“I think Liverpool fans can look forward to one or two big names in the transfer window this summer,” Aldridge told the Liverpool ECHO.
“Up front is probably the big area. At the moment, behind that three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, Liverpool will need another but that one player has to be absolute top drawer. For me, there is only one who fits the bill perfectly. That player is Timo Werner. All day long for me.
“I would suggest another left-back that can push Andy Robertson and a top centre-forward. Will he go out and get a world-class attacker? We will wait and see but Liverpool have designs to win the lot now. If you are looking ahead to this summer, then I think the fans would want two big, big signings to arrive.”
The Merseyside Reds last high-profile signing has been Alisson Becker who has joined the club back in July 2018 and since then has established himself as one of the world’s best goalkeeper helping Reds to claim the Champions League trophy last season and this term likely to end up with winning the Premier League tittle.
