Former Premier League attacker Garth Crooks believes Liverpool should launch a move for Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
The 27-year-old star has become somewhat of a stalwart on the south coast in spite of continued impressive division returns.
Meanwhile, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has faced many midfield dilemmas this season because of persistent injuries in the area.
Garth told BBC Sport that the Anfield outfit would be wise to finally attempt to land the technically gifted Englishman.
“The free-kick scored by Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse against Wolves was outstanding, though. How long are Liverpool going to wait to buy Ward-Prowse?
“They allowed Georginio Wijnaldum to leave on a free transfer and are struggling in that midfield department. Ward-Prowse would fit like a glove.”
The nine-cap England international, under a long-term deal until June 2026 at St Mary’s, has six goals and five assists in 22 matches across all competitions.
Elsewhere, Liverpool are allegedly ‘rivalling’ Real Madrid along with their Premier League rivals Manchester United for Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, who has entered the final 18 months of his deal.
Contract discussions have stalled with Blaugrana who are seeking a quick renewal, as he and his representative are not happy with the salary being proposed.
