Liverpool told to smash club record fee to sign in-demand Frenchman

January 11, 2018

Liverpool and Arsenal will have to pay at least £90m if they plan to sign AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

The Gunners had seen their deadline day bid for Lemar rejected during the summer transfer window.

And his decision meant that the Gunners have pulled the plug on Alexis Sanchez making the switch to Man City.

The Chilean is reportedly on the verge to leave the Emirates Stadium in January and Arsene Wenger is desperate to bring in a quality replacement.

Liverpool are also in the market for a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who made the 142m switch to Barcelona this week.

Jurgen Klopp was interested in Lemar in August, although they never made an official approach for his signature.

And according to the Mirror, AS Monaco value their star player at £90m will be the starting point for any negotiations this campaign..

The Merseyside Reds have also been linked with signing Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez and West Ham attacker Manuel Lanzini, who would cost significantly less.

Despite rejecting the Gunners at the start of the season, might be on his way to Emirates Stadium as French forward seems to be and an ideal replacement for Alexis Sanchez.
