Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been told to land Jack Butland from Stoke City to replace Adrian by an ex-England number one.
The Spanish star Adrian performed poorly against Aston Villa last week, playing a stray pass in the fourth minute to allow forward Ollie Watkins to give the underdogs the lead.
The stopper went on to concede six more goals in the game, making it Klopp’s biggest ever defeat as a head coach.
Adrian is currently in the senior team following an injury to number one Alisson Becker, who could be out until late November.
Following the 7-2 humiliation, the Reds have been told to sign out-of-favour Stoke stopper Butland by former England shot-stopper Paul Robinson.
Speaking to Football Insider, Paul said: “If Alisson is going to be out for that length of time Liverpool are going to have to look at it.
“While the domestic window is still open we may see Liverpool do some business. There is a lot of good goalkeepers that are not playing football right now.
“I can see Liverpool signing the likes of Jack Butland on a short-term deal. They need somebody like that. A player that has the experience of handling big games. Somebody of that ilk.”
The domestic transfer market is open until Friday 16th October, meaning the Anfield outfit have over a week to look at potential keepers.
Butland is a decent keeper with both Premier League and international experience. Heh as featured in the league 77 times for his current club and has nine caps for his country’s national team.
