Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly is set to miss the rest of 2017 after suffering an injury set back that could see him sidelined for the next two month.
The 23-year-old defender has been out of action since Man United’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge more than a month ago as he struggles with a groin injury and his return has been pushed back again.
The Ivory Coast international was believed to be in contention to face Brighton at the end of November but has not been in action since and we’re unlikely to see him until the middle of January at the earliest.
And now, The Sun suggests that he will be out for the next eight weeks and won’t be able to help his squad during the boxing days.
Jose Mourinho has Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Victor Lindelof and Phil Joses at his disposal.
However, should the Red Devils continue using a three-man defence, Mourinho would hope to have Bailly fit in order to rotate in the holiday season.
Daley Blind has featured at the heart of the back line before – as has Michael Carrick – and Mourinho may be forced to call upon different options to keep his side fresh throughout the winter months.
