Manchester United are allegedly keeping a close tabs on Atletico Madrid first-team star Jan Oblak as they plot a move for a new stopper,.
Current number two Dean Henderson – standing in for David de Gea after the birth of his child – is keen to nail down a regular spot for the 20-times English champions and would be ready to depart from the club if he is not guaranteed the number one jersey for next season and recent rumours have already linked with a switch to UCL giants.
The England international got off on the right foot as he kept a clean sheet in Sunday’s 2-0 victory at Man City, however, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to be looking for a new man in between the sticks regardless amid uncertainty considering the David de Gea’s future.
As a result, Sky Sports News reports that the Red Devils have been scouting Atletico No.1 Oblak for over a year and would love to welcome the Slovenia international to Old Trafford, however, finances could prove to be a problem.
The report adds that Jan Oblak – previously linked with the Blues – possesses a £103m release clause in his Atletico contract, so the Red Devils could instead opt to swoop for AC Milan’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma or Lille’s main man Mike Maignan.
Oblak has kept 12 clean sheets in 25 La Liga appearances this season, shipping just 17 goals as Atletico Madrid sit at the top of the rankings.
