Man United keeping close tabs on 21-year-old Brazilian maestro

November 10, 2017

According to the reports, Gremio midfielder Arthur Melo has started to attract interest from Jose Mourinho.

Melo’s impressive displays for his current club led to a call-up to the Brazil squad for the first time this October, and it appears that a number of European top sides have also started to take notice of his ability.

As per the Daily Mail, Manchester United have join the likes of Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in the race for his signature.

The 21-year-old Melo does not feature in Tite’s squad for the upcoming friendly clash against England at Wembley Stadium, but the midfielder has played a leading role in helping Gremio reach the final of the Copa Libertadores.

The player – who also represented Brazil at Under-20 level – has just over two years remaining on his contract with Gremio.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are lining up a club-record £71m bid for Atletico Madrid midfield star Saul Niguez.

The 22-year-old versatile star has scored one goal while assisting another for Atletico Madrid this season, and Blues head coach Antonio Conte is keen to make Niguez part of his squad.

According to the Don Balon, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has no plans to let the Spaniard leave the club.

Saul Niguez renewed his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano in the summer and now has a £134m release clause, which the Spanish side expect to be enough to fend off interest from Stamford Bridge.
