Manchester United will hold talks with Jesse Lingard over a new contract after the Red Devils fear to lose him to Chelsea, who are willing to offer £80 million for the 25-year-old midfielder.
Jesse Lingard was handed a new long-term deal at the end of Jose Mourinho’s first campaign and the decision surprised some supporters given the Englishman was on the fringes for most of the campaign. However, he became a regular starter last term and the club feel he’s deserving of a new deal on better conditions.
According to the Sun, Lingard could double his £75,000-a-week salary to earn around £150,000-a-week. That would put the Englan international towards the upper end of earners at Old Trafford but still firmly below the likes of Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and David De Gea.
Jesse Lingard has started all but one of England’s World Cup games and is valued by Southgate in an attacking midfield position and is expected to be in the starting eleven as Three Lions take on Sweden in the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Chelsea were offered to swap N’Golo Kante for Adrien Rabiot as Ligue 1 giants have made France international their summer priority.
