Man United are weighing up an audacious bid for their arch-rivals Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling, according to the reports.
The England international has been one of the Citizens star performers over the past few campaign, taking direct part in 78 goals in the English top-tier alone since the start of 2017-18 season.
Sterling has previously revealed that he would like to play in Spain one day, however, he has offered no other indication that he is considering a departure from the Etihad Stadium in the summer.
However, The Independent claims that the 25-year-old forward’s stance may change if the Citizens’ European ban is upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport this month.
It is reported that direct Premier League rivals, Man Utd will test the water by making a move for Raheem Sterling if the Citizens are blocked from competing in the Champions League at their expense.
Borussia Dortmund’s winger Jadon Sancho is believed to remain the Red Devils’ top transfer target, though, along with Jack Grealish of Aston Villa and Swansea City centre-back Joe Rodon.
If Man Utd fail to sign Sancho they will likely to make Raheem Sterling their no.1 option to strengthen their offensive end.
