The representative of Manchester United central midfielder Juan Mata has reportedly flown out to Spain and concretely Barcelona to discuss terms with the club’s hierarchy, according to the latest reports in the Spanish press.
Mata is out of contract at the Red Devils this summer and is now able to hold discussions with foreign clubs over a free transfer at the end of the season.
Manchester United are understood to have offered the 30-year-old star a 12-month extension to his current contract, which Mata is ready to consider having settled into the area.
However, the Spaniard is also prepared to explore other variants before making his final decision, having also been connected with Manchester United’s fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal.
A Spanish nationwide daily sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo reports that Blaugrana have made the first move to sign the attacking midfielder by speaking to his agent in Catalonia.
Mata has netted five goals in 23 appearances for his side so far this season and 44 in 209 outings since joining the Manchester-based outfit in 2014 from the Premier League giants Chelsea in £37 million deal.
