Man Utd 24-year-old star desperate to depart from club this month

Newcastle United are allegedly on the verge of securing the services of Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson following successful discussions.

The 25-year-old’s long-term future has been the subject of intense speculation in the latest weeks, with the England international keen to leave the club this summer in search of regular senior team action.

The Magpies came close to signing the keeper in January and have reportedly since revived their interest ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to the Manchester Evening News, he was in Newcastle this week for talks, and he’s now closing in on a move to St James’ Park.

The report adds that the player is likely to move on a one-year loan deal, but a permanent transfer could still possibly be agreed between the two sides.

Henderson was supposedly expected to start the 2021-22 season as the team’s number one, but the star was sidelined for a long period with coronavirus, which allowed the first-choice David de Gea to secure the gloves.

The Spaniard has been one of United’s most consistent performers in an awful season, meanwhile, and he is thought to be firmly in new boss Erik ten Hag’s plans for next season.
