Man Utd £80,000-a-week star on the verge to sign new contract

Eric Bailly has allegedly entered talks with Manchester United regarding signing a new long-term deal. He has just 16 months left on his existing deal and United want to extend his stay.

The Ivory Coast international defender has been injury prone since his arrival from the La Liga side Villarreal but he has put in some solid displays this season when fit.

That has convinced the Red Devils to attempt to extend his stay and negotiations have begun over a new three-year contract, according to a recent report from The Sun.

If Eric refuses to put pen to paper, the club may look to cash in on him in the summer transfer market.

They are reluctant to lose the player on a free transfer and will listen to offers for the centre-half if his long-term future is not secured.

While manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a fan of the 26-year-old Bailly, he still wants the club to land a new centre-back in the summer.

He is keen to find a long-term partner for the England international Harry Maguire.

Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde is one of their top targets, while RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate is also under consideration.

Ben White, the Brighton star, is another player drawing interest from the Premier League’s big boys and any arrival could see Eric question his future.

He’s already fighting with the Swedish star Victor Lindelof for a starting berth and he will not want to fall any further down the pecking order.

There is plenty of interest in him, with sides in Spain and Italy both tracking his situation.
