Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen for Roma to land Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic.

The Serie A giants made the surprise announcement this week that Mourinho will be their new head coach this summer, replacing Paulo Fonseca who will depart at the end of the season.

And according to SportItalia, Jose is already planning to revamp his Giallorossi squad and is looking to bring Nemanja with him to the Italian capital.

The report states that Roma have already made an approach to the Red Devils in order to determine whether a summer deal could be possible this summer.

Matic, who has remained a reliable team player since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Mourinho at United, penned a contact extension last summer which keeps him at the club until 2023.

Mourinho also played an important role in bringing Matic to United after they lifted the Premier League trophy together during their time at Chelsea.

‘I haven’t had many managers in my life but he is special because he wants to win, always,’ Nemanja said of Jose during their time together at Old Trafford.

‘You can see when we lose a game, he cannot accept that. Probably that’s why he won more than 20 trophies in his life.

‘He always wants more and more. Even if you win the league, he wants to win again next season. He is like this and the players need to be ready for that.

‘I like it when the manager always wants better and better, so you have to improve. Always do your best. I like this kind of work and relationship.’
