Manchester United reportedly attempted to secure services of German giants, Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schulz on loan before the summer transfer window shut down on October 5.
The 20-times English champions were heavily linked with Dortmund another star Jadon Sancho over the summer , however, were unable to come to an agreement with the German giants as they demanded around £108m while the Red Devils were ready to pay only £90m for his signature.
According to ESPN, the Red Devils made a €1m (£900,000) loan offer for Schulz on the deadline day of the transfer window and were prepared to pay the 27-year-old’s salary for the rest of the season.
Dortmund ultimately turned down the move, though, and the report suggests that Lucien Favre’s team were left ‘baffled’ by the Red Devils negotiating tactics.
Schulz joined German giants from their rivals Hoffenheim back in May 2019 but has largely found it tough to make his mark at Signal Iduna Park, making only 20 appearances in all competitions during his time at the club.
The Germany international has also only played six minutes of Germany top-tier football this campaign.
