Premier League giants Manchester United could secure services of Toni Kroos as part of the deal taking French midfielder Paul Pogba to Real Madrid, according to the reports.
Pogba has long been expected to depart from the Red Devils, having been rumoured with both Juventus and Real Madrid throughout last summer.
It has been reported that Serie A champions are ready to offer Adrien Rabiot to the 20-times English champions head-coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in a player-plus-cash offer for Frenchman.
However, Real Madrid remains Pogba’s most likely destination, and a switch could see German playmaker, Toni Kroos heading to Old Trafford, according to The Sun .
The publication reports that, despite Solskjaer’s public declarations of support for Frenchman, there is no way back for the £89million midfielder, who wants to play on the higher level.
Unlike Juve and Madrid, the Red Devils are not in the Champions League and face a challenging task to qualify for next campaigns competition, despite having hauled themselves up to fifth place in the English top-tier in recent weeks.
Pogba is currently out for three to four weeks after surgery on an ankle problem, so a winter transfer is highly unlikely for Frenchman.
But the Red Devils have shown interest in Kroos before, and the 30-year-old could end up as a makeweight in order to finally lure Pogba at Santiago Bernabeu.
If Kroos doesn’t go to the Red Devils, Madrid will reportedly look to offload him anyway to make space for Pogba next summer.
