Manchester United are on the observation post for a striker this summer and BBC Sport state Patrik Schick could feature on the Red Devils’ shortlist.
Along with players including but not limited to Alexander Isak, Erling Haaland and Lautaro Martinez, the report names the Czech Republic international as a player who interim boss Ralf Rangnick is known to be a fan of.
The German won’t be head coach next season, but he’ll likely pass on several recommendations to the club’s permanent chief, via his role as a consultant.
After a terrific 2021/22 season which is far from over, Bayer Leverkusen star Patrik’s name well-deserved features in the mix.
This season he has scored a stunning 19 Bundesliga goals for Die Werkself. This is second only to Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, who has 26.
He is ahead of Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland, who has 16, but it should be noted that the Norwegia international missed several weeks because of injury.
That does not denigrate Schick’s success. The player is averaging a goal every 80 minutes in the German top-flight this campaign, and his 19 goals have come in 19 outings.
Even last term the frontman only scored 13 goals for his team. In 2022, boosted by his confidence-inspiring UEFA Euro 2020 for his country in which he scored on four occasions, he has taken his game to a new level.
