Man Utd eyeing move for Ajax head-coach

Manchester United have allegedly ‘sounded out’ Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag, with the Red Devils interested in confirming the appointment of a new boss before the end of the 2021-22 season.

Current interim manager Ralf Rangnick will step aside in the summer, and Paris Saint-Germain’s Argentine tactician Mauricio Pochettino continues to be mentioned with the role.

Les Parisiens’ exit from the UEFA Champions League has strengthened suggestions that Mauricio could be on his way to the Theatre of Dreams, with the French outfit thought to be thinking about sacking him.

However, Erik also continues to be linked with the role, and according to Sky Sports News, the club board have ‘sounded out’ the 52-year-old Dutchman through intermediaries.

The report states that they are yet to make a direct contact, but de Joden chief would be ‘very keen’ to speak to United if an approach arrives.

He has a contract with his side until the summer of 2023, making it more complicated for 20-time English champions to acquire him.

Ten Hag, who is also said to have admirers at Manchester City, has lifted two Eredivisie trophies and two KNVB Cups since arriving at the Johan Cruijff ArenA outfit in 2017.
