Atletico Madrid are reportedly planning to tie their key player Thomas Partey down to a fresh deal to ward off interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.
The 26-year-old has been a standout performer for the Spanish giants this campaign, playing the full 120 minutes as Diego Simeone’s side knocked Liverpool out of the Champions League after a 3-2 victory at Anfield.
Partey’s performances throughout the current campaign have garnered significant interest from other teams, with the release clause in his current deal has been £47m.
According to Goal, Atletico Madrid are looking to insert a £93m release clause in their key players new deal, and the midfielder could also see his current wages increase up to £80,000 per week.
The report also suggests that negotiations are already underway with the Ghana international midfielder, although Atletico Madrid are not overly concerned about losing him at this stage.
Partey has found back of the net 13 times in 161 appearences for Atletico Madrid and will see his current contract expire in 2023.
Arsenal are currently struggling in the midfield area and Partey could be a perfect addition to their squad especially if Granit Xhaka leave the club, and while Lucas Torreira has been out due to a broken leg injury.
