Ajax defender and reported Manchester United target Matthijs de Ligt makes it to the front page of Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo and it reads ‘De Ligt wants to come’ to Spanish club Barcelona.
The star has seen his current teammate, Dutch midfielder Frankie de Jong agree a deal to join the La Liga champions in the summer and he is keen to continue playing with the fellow countryman beyond this season.
It’s explained the great desire of the Catalan outfit is to now bring the 19-year-old star to the Camp Nou, but he’s also attracting interest from other elite clubs across Europe including Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United.
Ernesto Valverde’s side wants to sign the Netherlands international and is studying the feasibility of the operation, as the report states it could cost them €75 million plus €11 million in variables.
Mundo says the star does not want to take a decision until he knows the offer from the Blaugrana. The centre-half has publicly spoken highly regarding the club and it’s taken as a hint by Barcelona.
To play for the Spanish giants, De Ligt is ready to give up the astronomical offers he has received. For him to take the first step, Matthijs wants to make sure that La Liga leaders are serious about signing him.
