La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are reportedly bracing themselves for Uruguay international defender Diego Godin to depart from the club at the end of the current campaign as the defender is not close to agreeing on a new deal.

The 32-year-old defender is into the final six months of his existing contract and is therefore able to negotiate terms with teams abroad from the Spanish league this month.

South American defender is believed to have been offered a big-money deal by Atletico Madrid on the back of Man United tabling an offer in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to Marca, however, the Uruguayan centre-back has not taken up the deal proposed by chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin and the chances of him renewing are slim.

The report claimed that Diego Godin is eyeing a final blockbuster deal elsewhere, though he may be tempted to commit to Atleti at a later date if they match his wage demands.

Man Utd are a huge admirers of Godin and could try to sign him this monh to strengthen their defensive end.
