Man Utd in danger to miss out signing of £44m-rated Porto star

Chelsea have reportedly entered the transfer race to secure services of highly-rated Porto centre-back Eder Militao.

The 20-year-old who has only arrived at Estadio do Dragao during the summer has quickly established himself as one of the key players for the Portuguese giants and his stunning form is understood to have attracted interest from top teams in Europe.

Juventus, Everton and Man Utd have all been credited with an interest in the 20-year-old defender but now it seems that Chelsea have also joined the race and ready to rival the Red Devils in their pursuit for his signature.

The Blues are known to be in the market for defensive reinforcements next month too, and the Daily Mail claimed that they have now made signing Militao as their priority in January transfer window.

Militao is believed to have the same agent as Chelsea Brazilian pair David Luiz and Willian and it could help the Blues to get the deal done.

Maurizio Sarri views Militao as a possible long-term replacement for club captain Gary Cahill who has been out of favour at Stamford Bridge since the arrival of Italian specialist.

However, Porto are hoping to make a significant profit on any sale of their star player and have slapped £44m asking price for his signature.
