Man Utd keen on to agree deal for La Liga No,4 star valued at £50m

Manchester United are reportedly poised to bring Villarreal centre-half, Pau Torres, to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old star has again been in brilliant form for El Submarino Amarillo during the 2021-22 campaign, racking up 42 appearances across all competitions, contributing five goals so far.

He has enjoyed a brilliant La Liga season, scoring four goals in 29 outings, while the player has played a key role in the team’s run to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, featuring on 12 occasions, netting once.

The Spaniard was strongly linked with a transfer away from Estadio de la Ceramica last summer, with Tottenham Hotspur said to have been pushing to land him, but the star remained with the club.

But, with little over two years left to run on his existing deal, Torres is likely to leave Unai Emery’s side in the upcoming window.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with him, but the Blues are now said to be progressing in a summer deal for Sevilla’s central defender Jules Kounde, and according to a report from TodoFichajes, Pau will head to Manchester.

The report adds that Ralf Rangnick’s side are determined to land the centre-back but will face stiff competition from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, with the Spanish tactician also a firm admirer of his talents.
