Arsenal have reportedly identified Man United creative midfielder Juan Mata as a potential signing before the end of the January transfer window.
Spanish playmaker has spent the last seven-and-a-half years in of football with Arsenal’s direct Premier League rivals Man Utd and Chelsea, however, the Spaniard is currently due to be out of his deal with the 20-time English champions.
A number of Spanish teams are likely to be keen on securing the services of the playmaker on a free transfer, however, according to The Mirror, Arsenal are ready to try an lure former Valencia man at Emirates Stadium before the end of the January transfer window.
The report suggested that bringing in an experienced and proven player on a free transfer could appeal to the North London club, whose squad is expected to undergo further changes ahead of the new season.
Juan Mata has also previously worked with the Spanish head-coach Unai Emery at Valencia and may welcome the opportunity to work with him one again now at Emirates Stadium.
