Man Utd out-of-favour forward keen on to play at Old Trafford despite exit talks

Odion Ighalo has told the Manchester United hierarchy that he wants to remain at the club beyond the end of his loan deal.

The 31-year-old attacker has made just four appearances for his side this season and fell even further down the pecking order last year following the arrival of Edinson Cavani.

But manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been keen to stress that Odion is still impressing during the Red Devils’ training sessions and insists the forward has been a ‘positive influence in the dressing room’.

Odion, who is currently on loan from the Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua, is due to depart Old Trafford at the end of the month when the temporary deal expires.

But the Nigerian star is looking to remain at United for the rest of the season.

‘Today, I’m in Manchester but at the end of the month I don’t know where I’m going to be,’ the former Watford man told ESPN.

‘If it’s possible I’d like to stay here but if not I have to go. I have options. I wait for my agent. He is doing his job and I’m doing mine.

‘At the end of the month, we have to decide what is best and we’ll take it. If it’s possible I’d like to play in MLS but I have to wait to see if it’s possible.

‘The league is doing well and if the opportunity arises then I’d grab it with two hands.’

In other news, Barcelona are reportedly interested in landing exiled full-back Diogo Dalot to resolve their problems at right-back.

Diego is currently on loan at AC Milan, but Rossoneri senior figures Ricky Massara and Paolo Maldini are in no rush to make the move permanent, Calciomercato reports.

Seeking an opening, Blaugrana are allegedly willing to offer up to £10 million for Dalot, which could be enough to persuade United chief Ed Woodward to sell the Portuguese, considering his struggles in England.
