Man Utd planning move for AS Roma in-demand midfielder

Premier League heavyweights Manchester United’s management have reportedly shelved plans to move for AS Roma star Lorenzo Pellegrini in January window after learning of a release (buy-out) clause in the Giallorossi midfielder’s contract that can be triggered next summer.

The 22-year-old Italian midfielder, already capped nine times by his country, is said to have been closely monitored by the Red Devils scouts over the past few months.

Jose Mourinho was hoping to bring in the one-time Sassuolo ace for the second half of the season but, according to a British daily tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror, those plans have been pushed back five months.

That is because Lorenzo Pellegrini will supposedly be available for a bargain price of £26.3 million at the end of the campaign due to a clause in his current deal.

However, the report indicates that AS Roma’s hierarchy are working hard on thrashing out fresh terms with the home-grown player before Lorenzo becomes available for a fraction of his valuation.

Jose Mourinho’s side are also interested in another AS Roma key player, Kostas Manolas, with the former Real Madrid coach still planning to bolster defensive options.
