Napoli stopper Alex Meret has reportedly emerged as a shock transfer target for Manchester United.
Although the Red Devils are well stocked for options between the sticks, there is uncertainty over the futures of Spanish keeper, David de Gea, Dean Henderson and Sergio Romero.
While one of those keepers will be the Red Devils number one next campaign, the remaining two players may be open to departing from Old Trafford.
According to ESPN, that scenario has led to the Red Devils officials contemplating possible replacements ahead of next campaign.
Meret, who earned his first Italy cap back in November, made a total of 22 starts in the Italian top-tier during the most recent season.
The 23-year-old keeper still has three years left on his current deal at Stadio San Paolo.
Meanwhile, Manchester United could reportedly attempt to secure services of Leicester City stopper Kasper Schmeichel during the current summer transfer window.
David de Gea stays as the club’s number one keeper, however, the Spain international has seen his form dip over the last year, and he has made some high-profile mistakes in the recent weeks before the end of the 2019/20 season.
Dean Henderson is set to return to Old Trafford in the summer following a loan spell at Sheffield United, however, according to The Sun, the 20-times English champions are weighing up a move for the Danish stopper.
